ACCESSIBILITY AND SOCIAL OUTREACH
Diversity Society of the Year Award 2019
In 2019 we were awarded the Tab's Diversity Society of the Year, and in 2020 we remained in the top 10.
As a club goal for this year, we have been putting in a lot of work to make ourselves more accessible and improve access to the sport - turning the ‘Sport of Kings’ into the ‘Sport of Students’. While we still have a long way to go, we appreciate the recognition and are very proud of our efforts thus far.
This year, despite getting no funding, we have worked very hard to be able to cut lesson prices down by a third - covering transport cost and subsidising nationals through our events. We have also introduced supplementary training sessions - tactics, 3 wooden horses (which we built by hand), bike polo and strength & conditioning. In effect, this has enabled our players to hone their skills at no additional cost.
Through this and much more, we hope to give back to the community and bring as many people into the sport as possible!
