The 2018/19 Academic year was a great success for Durham University Polo so to celebrate here's a rundown of just a few of the highlights!

Firstly, we had an amazing club trip to St Moritz in Switzerland in January to watch the Snow Polo World Cup! Great polo, great company and great champagne! An amazing weekend was had by all, massive thanks to Ellie Blackburn for organising!

We then went to the 2019 SUPA Winter Nationals where we had a very successful trip and took a record 7 teams ranging all the way from Beginner 4 to Lower Intermediate and including 27 players!! A huge increase from only 2 last year! Massive congratulations to our interns team for coming 3rd overall in their division!

Throughout second term our beginners and novices also competed in the Greenpoint University League. This was a great learning experience especially to our beginners, many of which had not played chukkas before and even came joint 1st! Special thank you to our tireless drivers who drove all the way to High Wycombe and back in one day so we could make our chukkas!

DUPC also held its incredibly successful Polo Ball with the theme ‘Regality’. Attendees wined and dined and then danced the night away! The ball was even featured in the Polo Times and we look forward to next years ball even more!

A team of beginners and a combined team of novices then represented the club at the St Andrews Charity Polo Tournament. A big well done to our beginners who placed 3rd in their division despite having never played on grass before!

We then had even more success at Summer Nationals! We managed to take an amazing 10 teams, up from 3 last year! A special congrats goes to the Beginner 2’s and Novice 3’s who both won their divisions making them National Champions! Also to the Medians and Lower Inters who placed second and third in their divisions!

Lastly I would just like to thank all of the Exec last year for their work and commitment to the club! Without you the year wouldn’t have been nearly as much of a success! We’d also like to thank all the coaches without whom our players wouldn’t be where they are now.

Let’s hope that we can build on all these successes and have an even more fantastic upcoming year!
